What we're looking for
The VP of Engineering will be a pivotal member of our leadership team, responsible for driving the strategic vision and operational execution within our engineering organization. You will lead, mentor, and grow the engineering team while ensuring that we maintain a stable, scalable, and secure codebase, balancing rapid feature development with platform stability.
This role requires a deep understanding of scaling engineering teams, hands-on experience with architectural design, and a proven track record in developing high-volume financial transaction systems. You will collaborate closely with the executive team to align engineering efforts with business objectives and help shape the future of OatFi’s product offerings.
Responsibilities
- Lead and Scale the Engineering Team: Oversee the growth of the engineering team from its current size, ensuring we build a strong, high-performing team culture.
- Mentor Engineering Team Leads: Actively mentor and develop team leads, fostering a collaborative, supportive environment that encourages personal and professional growth.
- Architectural Oversight: Provide architectural guidance and strategic direction for the development of a scalable, reliable, and secure system. Lead and support critical decisions on technology, architecture, and development practices.
- Optimize for Velocity and Stability: Ensure that our codebase remains solid and stable while maintaining a high pace of feature delivery. Balance speed and quality as the business scales, building resilient systems for high-volume financial transactions.
- Performance Metrics and Improvement: Establish and track key engineering performance metrics, using data to drive decisions and continually improve team efficiency and product quality.
- Ownership of Financial Transaction Systems: Lead the design, development, and scaling of our financial transaction and ledger systems, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance.
- Adopt Best Practices: Keep the team aligned with the latest industry trends, tools, frameworks, and infrastructure best practices, ensuring that our technology stack supports long-term growth and scalability.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience with a focus on scaling teams and technology in high-growth environments.
- Proven experience scaling engineering teams from small (10+) to large (100+) while fostering a positive, productive team culture.
- Expertise in software architecture design with experience in high-availability systems, especially those handling high-volume financial transactions and data integrity.
- Strong mentorship and coaching experience with engineering managers and team leads, promoting best practices in leadership, coding, and team management.
